I once encountered someone who was adamant that periods of inspiration are the only acceptable time to write. I respect that every writer’s process is different, and if that’s what works for them, great. But if I tried to operate on that philosophy, then I wouldn’t have a single completed novel at this point, let alone six (approaching seven!).
Inspiration is a fickle wench. I love this quote: “I write only when inspiration strikes. Fortunately it strikes every morning at nine o’clock sharp.” ― W. Somerset Maugham. I need to be more like that.
